Compensation: $13.00 per hour
Description: Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include • Maintain proper supervision of participants during all scheduled programs in the pool • Inspect pool area prior to and after completion of patron use to minimize and eliminate hazards • Ensure all emergency equipment is readily available, and pool area is safe • Wear proper lifeguarding rescue equipment and attire • Complete required reports and records as assigned • Assist with pool admissions • Report to work at the scheduled hour and work the entire assigned schedule • Attend all in-service training programs and be aware of all facility procedures • All other duties as may be assigned • Effectively convey rules and expectations to program participants, and positively reinforce behaviors • Convey program and equipment needs to Aquatic Coordinator • Promote and maintain safety practices and procedures • Be prepared to react to an emergency situation; be certain your site first aid kit is sufficiently stocked with necessary supplies, and that your staff is aware of the location of the first aid kit, bio-hazard supplies and telephone • Be prepared to react in a severe weather situation • Encourage proper use of equipment and facilities • Be familiar with current M.F. Community Education and Recreation Department seasonal activity guide. • Maintain confidentiality and unquestionable integrity

Qualifications: Must be at least 15 years of age • Must hold current certifications through American Red Cross in Lifeguarding, CPR-AED for Lifeguards, and First Aid - training provided • Must be able to work cooperatively with other program staff, parents and the general public • Must complete staff in-services including Blood Borne Pathogen Training, Child Abuse & Neglect Training, and additional trainings required for the position • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other District personnel, and the public • Ability to follow verbal and or written instructions • Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations • Must be able to work independently as well as within a team

Description: Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include • Report to work at the scheduled hour and work the entire assigned schedule • Ensure all instructional equipment is readily available before instruction begins • Teach swim lessons according to American Red Cross standards • Maintain proper supervision of participants during all scheduled lessons • Observe, enforce and explain all pool rules and regulations • Remain in the water while instructing participants • Communicate the individual’s progress with both the participant and their parents • Complete all required paperwork, reports and records as assigned • Attend all in-service training programs and be aware of all facility procedures • All other duties as may be assigned

Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years of age • Must hold current certifications through American Red Cross in CPR-AED - training available • Prefer certifications through the American Red Cross in Water Safety Instructor within 6 months of hire or have equivalent training and/or experience.
