Many people are taking advantage of the historically low interest rates right now to refinance homes. Like a home-refinance, the School District of Menomonee Falls can refinance existing debt through bond refunding, allowing SDMF to pay off existing debt with bonds at a lower interest rate with a lower cost to the bond issuer.
In the School District of Menomonee Falls, taxpayers will see a savings of over $500,000 after the school board voted to approve refinancing of over $8 million in remaining debt payments on January 25, 2021.
That's great news for taxpayers! Refinancing remaining debt will reduce future tax levies that support debt payments, and it also strengthens our fiscal responsibility of being good stewards of taxpayer dollars.
