February 8, 2023 | Board Extends Interim Superintendent Contract
The School District of Menomonee Falls (SDMF) Board of Education will extend a one-year contract through the 2023-2024 school year to current SDMF Interim Superintendent Dr. James Heiden. The additional one-year contract extension will give the District stable leadership and support and allow the Board to continue active recruitment to hire a permanent superintendent. The Board is scheduled to vote on Dr. Heiden’s contract extension at its meeting on February 13, 2023.
Last fall, the Board launched a search for a permanent superintendent with the executive search firm HYA, which included stakeholder input from staff, families, and community members. The Board will continue actively recruiting to secure qualified prospective superintendent candidates to lead SDMF.

The School District of Menomonee Falls Board of Education unanimously voted during a special board meeting on Monday, August 1, 2022, to extend a contract to James P. Heiden, Ph.D. to serve as the SDMF Interim Superintendent of Schools for the 2022-2023 school year. Read more here.
July 12, 2022 | Board Selects Superintendent Search Firm
The School District of Menomonee Falls has chosen Hazard Young Attea Associates (HYA) to spearhead its search for an interim superintendent and permanent superintendent for the 2023-2024 school year. The Board of Education chose the firm from among two candidates at a special meeting on Tuesday, which can be viewed here.
“It was a unanimous vote, “ said Eric Pelzer, President of the SDMF School Board. “The thing we liked best about HYA was their analytical approach and that they were data-driven. We also liked the dashboard interface that all of the board members will have access to during the process, giving us real-time updates in response to the survey we will be doing.”
The board will work closely with HYA on the search timeline and will share the next steps as soon as the information is available.
