Notice to Electors of School Board Vacancy &
Request for Applications to Fill Board Vacancy

The electors of the School District of Menomonee Falls are hereby given notice that, as of September 24, 2018, there is a vacancy in the office of School Board Member. The office was formerly held by MIchael Vettor.

Under state law, the vacancy will be filled by appointment by the remaining members of the School Board. The person who is appointed to fill the vacancy:

  1. Must be a resident and elector of the School District of Menomonee Falls (Policy 131.1) who is eligible under state law to hold the office of School Board Member in the District; and
  2. Will serve as an appointee until April of 2019.

Following the conclusion of the appointee’s term of office, it is expected that an elected successor (who shall be elected at the April 2, 2019 spring election) will assume office.

Any eligible elector, as described in Policy 133 who wishes to be considered for possible appointment to the School Board must file an APPLICATION FOR DECLARATION OF INTENT. Candidate packets are available at the SDMF office, W156 N8480 Pilgrim Rd., Menomonee Falls, during normal business hours, 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Applications will be accepted by the Superintendent’s office for the open position until 5 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018. All applications shall be directed to the attention of Amy Ignasiak, Human Resources Administrative Assistant. To ensure consideration, the application must be received in the school district’s main, administrative office located at W156 N8480 Pilgrim Rd., Menomonee Falls, by no later than 5 p.m. on October 15, 2018. It is the sole responsibility of the individual submitting a letter of interest to ensure that the letter has been received.

If no applications are received, the Superintendent/designee shall extend the public notice of the vacancy and accept applications using 10 calendar day increments, as necessary, until a qualified elector(s) files an application for Declaration of Intent.

At the October 22, 2018 Board meeting, the Board shall consider all applicants and vote on the appointment in open session. All candidates shall be given an opportunity to make a statement on behalf of their candidacy and to explain their purpose in seeking a position on the Board. The Board may ask questions of one or more of the candidates.

At the discretion of the Board President, voting on the candidates may be done by roll call, voice vote, or signed written ballot. A majority vote by the Board members present at the meeting shall be required for all appointments to the Board. Based on Wisconsin Stats. §17.26, the interviews will be in open session.

Individuals submitting letters of interest should be aware that, unless otherwise directed or permitted under Wisconsin Stats. §17.275, 19.36(7), or Subchapter II of Chapter 19, their submissions (including name and residential address) are generally subject to inspection or copying in response to requests submitted under Wisconsin Stats. §19.35(1).
