Student Experience

At the elementary level, students do more than just cute counting games or reading Dr. Seuss. Although, there is some of that too!

Here in Menomonee Falls, we have four elementary schools that work as partner schools. Our lower elementary schools, Shady Lane and Ben Franklin, serve our littlest learners: 4K-2nd, where they work on building basic skills and fostering a lifelong love of learning. Our upper elementary schools, Riverside and Valley View, take on the curiosity of our 3rd-5th grade students, where they seek a deeper understanding of the world around them and feel empowered to grow.

We provide support for students of all needs, whether it’s gifted and talented, English language learners, students that struggle in math and reading, behavior intervention, or special education. Students begin providing feedback as early as 4K with the PDSA process in setting goals, monitoring their success with data folders, and adjusting based on needs with the help of their classroom teacher.

Our youngest students thrive as they meet goals tailored to their individual learning styles. We know how to have fun, too. Our PTOs host a wealth of events & fundraisers geared toward families and supporting students in the classroom, and our staff goes above and beyond creating culture-building events throughout the school year.

In middle school, students’ personalities can be larger than life. It’s where they start figuring out who they might be as adults and where they first start exploring career possibilities.

This is where North Middle School provides several unique opportunities around co-curricular like band, choir, the arts, athletics, and leadership opportunities like Best Buddies and Falls Creative Jr.

As a district, we have the state's strongest and largest Future Business Leaders of America chapter, and it starts here at NMS. It’s also a strong foundation for theater arts as one of the few middle schools with a full auditorium.

We start building leaders early, and our WEB Leaders are a prime example. WEB stands for Where Everybody Belongs, and it’s filled with students that work year-round to help acclimate incoming 6th-grade students to life at NMS. These WEB leaders support other students and the community, annually hosting a “Valentines for Veterans” event.

NMS also starts STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) interests early by aligning coursework with MFHS career clusters and providing a new, fully redesigned STEAM Lab.

Whether it’s a four-year college, technical college, workforce, or military, we want to ensure our graduates are well-equipped to face whatever they choose. We’re the roots for a bright future for all students.

We’ve tailored course options around careers offering solid wages, career advancement, and hard and soft skills.

At Menomonee Falls High School, we utilize the academy model housed within MFHS that allows students to focus on the interests they want to pursue post-graduation. We offer a business, health care, STEAM, Educator, and media/marketing academy. These academies give students early insight into making a career choice so they’re not spending precious collegiate time changing majors and taking unnecessary prerequisites.

For students interested in pursuing a degree through a technical college, we have a strong partnership with Waukesha County Technical College, where last year alone, students banked $233,000 in transcripts credits toward a degree. Students have the opportunity to complete workforce credentials that are industry recognized.

MFHS offers more Advanced Placement courses than any neighboring district, giving students a leg up on college. This year our district had 130 Advanced Placement Scholars that stand to earn more than $1.2 million in college credit.

We also know developing students’ soft skills like leadership, sportsmanship, and conflict resolution is important. That’s why we offer 75 (and growing!) varsity sports and extracurricular activities teaching skills outside the classroom.
