Book Vending Machine

Book Vending Machine Background

During the school year of 2022-23, a Book Vending Machine was purchased for North Middle School. This idea came to the forefront when there was a need to get more books into the hands of students. A variety of people and groups make the purchase of the Book Vending Machine possible. Including the North Middle School PTSO, North Middle School Builders Club, Menomonee Falls community members, and North Middle School Staff.

Now any staff member can reward students with a book as an incentive for being North STARS, encouraging a love of reading and rewarding good behavior. When this happens, students then receive a golden coin to choose their very own book to keep, from the vending machine!

Selection Procedure

The books available in the book vending machine are provided as a gift from North Middle School’s PTSO. North staff utilize the below selection procedure to stock our book vending machine.

  • The North Middle School PTSO hosts 2 Scholastic Book Fairs per year
  • Each year Scholastic Dollars are acquired through books purchased by students
  • These Scholastic Dollars fund the purchase of books for the book vending machine as a student incentive.
  • A book list is created based off the Criteria for Selection of Materials listed below
  • This list is submitted to the PTSO for purchase
  • Once books are purchased those titles are added to the Book Vending Machine Book List
  • Books are added to the Book Vending Machine

As a gift from the PTSO, books from the book vending machine must meet the following criteria to be accepted:
