Our Updates

June 9th

Good afternoon Shady Lane families,

I hope that your summer has started off well. It was quite the week last week cramming in some last minute learning and lots of fun saying goodbye to our friends until we see you all soon. If your house is at all like mine, you’ve been inundated with papers from school. I wanted to bring a few of them to the top of the pile. I lose papers at home often, but it’s good to know I can always go back into my email.

  • Tomorrow night (Tuesday, June 11th) is Shady Lane Night at the Optimist Club Popcorn Wagon. Shady Lane staff will be popping the corn and enjoying the summer evening. Stop on up the wagon in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot to support the Optimist Club of Menomonee Falls and enjoy some popcorn with Shady Lane friends.
  • This Registration and Info Sheet went home with students this week. It has directions for registration and important dates and reminders for summer and back to school. Check it out here:Back to School Shady Lane.pdf
  • Here are the supply lists that went home.
    • 4K:Shady Lane 4K Supply List.pdf
    • 5K-2nd grade:Supply List K12.pdf
    • Once again, the Shady Valley PTO is offering a school supply service through EPI. If you are interested, check out the site here. The code for Shady Lane is SHA084 and for Valley View VAL301. Act fast, orders are due by the end of this week.
  • Summer reading packets went home this week as well. We are partnering with the Menomonee Falls Public Library for our summer reading program. We hope to see you this Wednesday, June 12th for our first Summer Library School Night.

It’s going to be a great week and a great summer!

June 2nd

Good morning Shady Lane families,

What an exciting week ahead as we wrap up the school year. It will be a mix of emotions this week as the excitement of summer creeps in and the sadness of another year wrapped up. We’ll make the most of it and have some fun.

  • Please return all library books this week. There are still many books still not checked back in. We are undergoing some nice library upgrades this summer and we need to have all books boxed up on Thursday and Friday.
  • Yearbooks are in! They will be coming home with students on Wednesday.
  • School supply lists for next year will be coming home with your child this week. Our PTO will once again be offering school supply packs through EPI. If you are interested, here is the link for our lists. Shady Lane School Supply Lists. Enter the code SHA084 to see and purchase supplies. You do not need to purchase supplies through this site, it is only an option for convenient supply purchasing. They will be delivered directly to school next fall.
  • Remember that the last day of school for 4K is this Thursday, June 6th. The last day for everyone else is Friday, June 7th with a dismissal time of 12:05
  • Please stop by sometime this week to check out our lost and found. A lot of lost, not a lot of found.

It’s going to be a great week!

May 27th

Good afternoon Shady Lane families,

I hope that you had a great Memorial Day weekend! What a nice little break. And now the home stretch. People keep talking about the school year winding down, but it seems more like we’re ramping up to summer. There is a lot going on in the next two weeks.

  • We’ve had a few questions about yearbooks. They should be here soon. We will send them home with students during the last week of school. Yearbook sales were all preordered. There will be a very limited amount of extra copies that were ordered. If you would like to purchase one
  • 2019-2020 Planning – If you have moved or are planning on moving over the summer or will not be attending Shady Lane in the fall, please notify our office before the end of the school year so the appropriate forms and mailings can be forwarded to you. A notification at this time will help us to transfer records to the new school district in a timely manner, as well as assist us in making adjustments for the 2019-2020 school year.
  • The last day of school for 4K is Thursday, June 6th. The last day for K-12 is Friday June 7th. School is over at 12:05 that day. Buses will run as normal on Friday, right after noon.
  • Mark your calendars for Shady Lane Night at the Optimist Club Popcorn Wagon. Shady Lane staff will be working the Optimist Club Popcorn Wagon located in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot on the night of June 11th. The popcorn wagon is a fundraiser for the Optimist Club who does so much for the kids in Menomonee Falls. So, come on out and support the kids of Menomonee Falls while enjoying some delicious popcorn and some fellowship. Plus, we have a friendly competition with the other schools that week for the most sales.

It’s going to be a great week!

May 19th

Good morning Shady Lane families,

We had a fun week with Kid’s Choice Day on Thursday. The kids (and staff) had a blast. Thank you to everyone who volunteered for making this fun day possible.

  • Tuesday night, May 21st is our final PTO meeting of the year at 6:30 in the Shady Lane cafeteria.
  • We do not have school on Friday May 24th. Enjoy the 4 day Memorial Day weekend.
  • The last day of school is Friday, June 7th. School is out at 12:05 that day. Lunch will not be served. The last day for 4K is Thursday, June 6th.
  • Back to School Registration is moving ONLINE! In order to streamline our registration process and cut down on paper forms, we are moving registration online.

While online registration will not be open until later this summer, we are asking parents to log in or create their PowerSchool parent accounts now and make sure all students are linked correctly. That way, we can provide assistance if needed before registration opens.

If you have not created a PowerSchool Parent account, you should have received an email and flyer from the district. It contains instructions and your unique student link code to link all students to your account.

Be ready for Back to School. Check you PowerSchool account at www.FallsSchools.org/parents

  • Our first Shady Lane Stroll is cancelled today because of the weather. We will work on a new date. If you are still interested, but did not RSVP for today, do that here and you will be included in any updates. Shady Lane Stroll - Spring 2019.pdf
  • We are still collecting used eye glasses or new reading glasses for the Lion’s Club recycling program. We have a collection bucket in the office. You can drop them off anytime. Thanks for helping others out all around the world. Eye Glass Recycling - Shady Lane.pdf

It’s going to be a great week!
