Knightly News

Dear Valley View Parents/Guardians:

I hope you and your children are enjoying the final days of summer. On behalf of the staff at Valley View, we welcome you to a new school year. The first day of school for students is Tuesday, September 3.

We are excited to announce that this year our district has implemented the on-line registration process! Each returning family must verify their student and family information before the start of the 2019/2020 school year. This replaces the demographic sheet that was sent in your past mailings. PowerSchool Parent Accounts are required for report card access and Back to School Registration. You will find instructions to set up your account at FallsSchools.org/Parents.

VV “Back to School Fair” is Tuesday, August 13 from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. Families may arrive anytime during the 4-hour time frame and should allow approximately 45 minutes.

At the “Back to School Fair”, you will be able to pay student fees, have school pictures taken (forms available at the fairs), review class lists, update demographics, sign up for a “Student Assessment Conference” and receive PTO information. Supply lists are available on our school website. Please refer to the “Back to School’ link for important school information.

You may also complete a volunteer application in order to volunteer at Valley View. Your application will be processed and upon approval you will become an active volunteer. This also applies to any adult who would like to attend a school field trip. The application can be found at the Volunteer Table, or on-line. Applications need to be updated every year.

Parking will be available on the playground behind the building and families may enter through the doors at that level. Information packets will be given to students of families who are unable to attend the event on the first day of school. Picture make-up day is scheduled for Tuesday, October 1.

You be able to access bus route information on the school website under the Parent tab after August 12. Please fill out the orange transportation sheet so we can inform the classroom teacher how to direct your child at the end of the school day. It is vital that we know how students will be transported each day so we can get them safely home or to their childcare provider.

If your child is attending Valley View, school supplies may be dropped off in the cafeteria at the “Back to School Fair”. Please place all supplies in large bags with your child’s name and teacher’s name listed on front. Our custodians will place supplies in the classrooms. Supplies may also be dropped off during your “Student Assessment” conference on August 29 or August 30.

We are offering a Parent Information Night at individual grade levels. Please plan to attend this parents-only curriculum information session where you will hear teacher/grade level expectations for the upcoming school year.

Thursday, September 19 Principal Meeting 5:30 - 6:00 p.m. Grades 3, 4, 5 6:15 - 7:00 p.m.

Your attendance is requested to ensure a smooth and successful school year for you and your child.

I hope these events will assist with the start of the school year. Please feel free to call or stop by the office and discuss any issues or concerns you may have. I look forward to an exciting year with your child.

Sincerely,

Tina Posnanski

Principal

Hello Valley View Families,

Valiant Knights' update:

  • We had a fantastic first week of school! Classrooms focused on getting organized, learning classroom procedures and building a team focused environment. Students had a blast breaking into a locked mystery box while learning school-wide expectation. Each grade level finished the week with a grade level tug-a-war competition. It was wonderful to see all of the smiles and cheers. There are so many great relationships being built.

Reminder:

  • Mark your calendar - September 19th is our Parent Information Night at 5:30-7:00 pm. Your classroom teacher will share curriculum and other pertinent information about your child's year. We are changing the format a little to accommodate feedback we received. Each grade level will have a separate 30 minute session. Parents are also invited to informal discussions in a Q&A format with the principal and coaches offered multiple times throughout the evening. More information to come soon.
  • September 17th is our first Shady Valley PTO Meeting at 6:30 pm in the Shady Lane cafeteria. Please attend to hear how the PTO supports our school and each child and to have a voice in upcoming events. Childcare will be available.

My door is always open. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call (262-250-2620), email (posntin@sdmfschools.org) or stop by.

It is going to be a fantastic week! Thank you for choosing to be part of the Valley View Family.

Respectfully,
