Good afternoon Valley View Families,
Thank you for a wonderful first two weeks of school and for sharing your child(ren) with us here at Valley View. I am having so much fun getting to know everyone and doing my best to remember names. You can expect a "Valley View Sunday Post" every Sunday at this time. This is a great way for me to communicate information home to you on a weekly basis and for you to stay up-to-date on what is happening here at Valley View.
- Just a friendly reminder to drop students off no earlier than 8:30 a.m. as we do not have supervision before that time.
- If students would like to eat breakfast in the morning, they are welcome to do that from 8:30-8:45 a.m. in the cafeteria.
- We do have two fun spirit days each week. On Wednesdays, we will have College/University Day in which students can wear anything to represent their favorite College/University. This is a fun way to remind students that our goal is to prepare students for opportunities beyond Menomonee Falls High School including college if they so choose. On Fridays, we have Valley View Spirit Day where we encourage students to show their Knight Pride. We hope to roll out a Valley View spirit wear store soon.
- Please join us for Parent Information Night (PIN) on Thursday, September 15th. This is a great opportunity to spend time in your child(ren)'s classroom and hear about expectations, curriculum, ask questions, etc. The times are as follows:
- 6:00-6:30 p.m.- 3rd Grade
- 6:30-7:00 p.m.- 5th Grade
- 7:00-7:30 p.m.- 4th Grade
- Please join us for a PTO meeting on Tuesday, September 20, @ 6:30, at Shady Lane Elementary.
- Tuesday, October 4- Picture Re-Take Day.
I am looking forward to a full week of learning with students. Please reach out if you need anything!
Take care,

Week of September 19
Hello Valley View Families,
Hope this email finds everyone well. We had a great full five day week here at Valley View and it ended on Friday with an extra recess for all classes. What a beautiful day to be outside! Students were definitely grateful for the extra time and it was fun for me to be outside with them watching them have fun, smiling, laughing, and enjoying the time to play. We will continue to teach and enforce the school-wide behavior expectations in all settings and we call that "showing our Knight Pride!"
Here are a few notes worth mentioning:
- The Menomonee Falls Jr. Phoenix Youth Football Association is hosting an "open practice" for any 3rd or 4th grade student (with adult supervision) on Wednesday, September 28, from 5:00-6:30 p.m. on the fields adjacent to MFHS and Ben Franklin on Titan Drive. This will be an opportunity to watch a 5th grade practice so that students attending can get close to the action by seeing various drills, instructions, scrimmages, and to gain firsthand knowledge about what the MFJP Youth Football does as a program. Those who come check it out, will receive a free bag of popcorn and two drinks (water/soda/Gatorade) to be used at the last Varsity home football game on Friday, October 7th. Hope to see you there! For more information contact Dan Soley at 414-861-5700.
- This year at Valley View we are focusing on engaging our students in reading. We are hoping to really increase our students love for reading. Here are a few things to watch for or ask your child about in the first few weeks of the school year.
- Every student will have a reading pouch which they will be bringing back and forth from school to home. We want our kids to read the same book at school as they do at home rather than bounce around in books. This will also increase the number of books a student will read.
- Students will be updating a reading log weekly with what they have read (not pages read but types of things read)
- Students will be creating a someday list. Teachers and classmates will be sharing out book recommendations, reading the first chapter of a book, showing book trailers and through other activities. Students are asked to write down books that they think they would like to read so they know what to go to upon finishing a book.
- Teachers are sharing out the books they are currently reading from their classroom libraries called “Hot Reads”.
- What can you do?
- Share what you are reading! Online articles, books, magazines, recipes- anything that you read!!!
- Ask your child about what they are reading? What do they think of the book? What is their favorite part? What’s on their someday list?
- As we move forward in the school year, we will be sharing other ways we are working on engagement
A few other dates to note:
- Tuesday, September 20- Wear yellow to show support for Childhood Cancer Awareness
- Thursday, September 22- PTO Appreciation Day
- Friday, September 23- Hero Run Dress Up Day- Wear Tie Dye
Thank you for taking the time to ready the Valley View Sunday Post. I am looking forward to a wonderful week of learning together with students and staff! Enjoy the rest of the day and please reach out if you need anything.
Take care,

Students who come will receive a pass for a free bag of popcorn and two drinks (water, soda, Gatorade) to be used at the last Varsity home football game on October 7th.

Good Afternoon Valley View Families,

- Shady/Valley Spirit Store- Our spirit wear store is up and running for only a few more days! The store will close Monday, October 3, at midnight. There were a few reminders sent out from Mr. Hoffman and Mrs. Mattson in the last couple of weeks, so I am sure most of you were able to get orders in already. Week of October 10
Good Afternoon Valley View Families,
I hope this email finds everyone well. We had a busy week at Valley View with some fun thrown in too. We started our week off with National Custodian Appreciation Day which is celebrated annually on October 2. Thank you to Mr. Jim, Mr. Matt, and Ms. Denise for keeping our school clean, safe, and running smoothly.
We also want to give a shout out to all of the coaches out there for National Coach Day which took place on Thursday, October 6. As a former coach myself, I understand that it can be one of the most demanding, yet rewarding jobs that someone can experience. It is a wonderful opportunity to play an influential role in the development of your players both on and "off the field." Thank you to all of the coaches out there!
Another big thank you to everyone who made our Hero Run such a success! The students were talking about how much fun they had during the day on Thursday and into Friday. It was great to see all of the volunteers here at school. On October 19th, we will hold an all-school assembly where some students will get to turn me into a human sundae. I can't wait!
- Fire Prevention- Fire Prevention Week is October 9-15. Students will have an opportunity to experience a presentation from the Menomonee Falls Fire Department starting on Wednesday, October 12. We will also practice another fire drill on this day.
- Attendance- Thank you for continuing to call the office when your child (ren) are absent. We have an attendance team here at Valley View that track attendance. Someone from the team may reach out to you to better understand why students are absent as we want to be able to provide supports needed and help with any challenges families may face in getting students to school consistently. Whenever you can provide a doctor's excuse, please bring that in to the school office or send it with your child(ren). Thank you!
- PTO- The PTO will host a meeting at Valley View Elementary on Tuesday, Oct. 18, from 6:30-7:30 in the library. Please join us!
- Knight Pride- We continue to work with students on showing their Knight Pride and following the expectations in each of the areas here at school. We also talk to students about showing their Knight Pride wherever they are and whomever they are with in and out of school. See matrix HERE.
Looking forward to another wonderful week of learning here at Valley View! Enjoy the rest of the day and please reach out if you need anything.

Hello Valley View Families,
I hope this email finds everyone well and enjoying the extended weekend. Last week at Valley View we packed in a lot of learning in just four days! In addition, there were so many student examples of showing kindness, which follows our character trait for this month. A teacher shared with me that her whole class made her a special card signed by everyone saying how much they love her as their teacher and how much they appreciate her. How awesome is that! I love that we have so many "bucket fillers" at our school! Students also enjoyed our first ever all-school assembly to celebrate our incredibly successful Hero Run and watching their Principal made into a human sundae. Let's just say I was VERY STICKY after it was done!
